The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Solution 30ml

A water-based leave-on BHA serum delivering the FDA over-the-counter maximum of 2% salicylic acid. Unlike water-soluble AHAs, salicylic acid is oil-soluble, meaning it can penetrate the sebum lining pores to dissolve the keratin and excess oil that cause blackheads, whiteheads, and inflammatory blemishes. It also has anti-inflammatory action, which helps calm the redness and swelling around active spots. The formula is supported by saccharide isomerate (a natural moisturising sugar that binds water to skin) to keep the salicylic acid solubilised at the right pH for activity.

The pH is calibrated for effective BHA activity in the low-3 range. Sun sensitivity warning: as a beta-hydroxy acid, salicylic acid increases the skin's sensitivity to UV and the risk of sunburn — daily broad-spectrum SPF is essential during use and for one week after stopping. Conflicts: avoid layering in the same routine with other strong direct acids, retinoids, peptides, or pure-form Vitamin C; alternate them across AM and PM. Not suitable for use on sensitive, peeling, or compromised skin.
